I came to Darren Staniforth with my idea to create a soft drink; a cocktail of citrus and ginger. I had certain criteria that I want to use in the drink - no artificial ingredients, flavours or preservatives. Not coming from a food technology background, but clear in my idea of what I would like to achieve, I worked closely with Darren to create this drink. I am glad to say that the product is a success and now sells to the National Trust, a brewery and local sports clubs.
Darren's expertise in food technology and flavour profiling were key to making the project work; to understand what I wanted and to then deliver. His hands on, can do attitude, along with his friendly persona were what I believe made my drink come to life. I enjoyed working with Darren and would not hesitate in recommending him.
We hired Darren's company to help us produce our liquids when they were just an idea. He was incredibly professional throughout and helped us with (among other things) the production of samples, taste testing, keeping RM costs down, recipes and trial runs once in full production. I would not hesitate in recommending Darren to anyone with an idea that they want to bring to fruition. We are now in our 4th year of trading and do not think we could have come this far without his invaluable support.

Darren is an absolute pleasure to work with – he has a great combination of endless care and enthusiasm coupled with great skill and industry knowledge.
I came to Darren with a brief that I had been pre-warned was an almost impossible task. This was the task of creating a range of bottled cocktails, as authentic as fresh versions and 100% natural. We worked with, and tested the product against, professional mixologists who had been sceptical from the start, but the end result is a range of cocktails that Darren has created which consistently exceeds people's expectations, including the mixologists!
Just 4 months down the line and it has won an award! Some mixologists have even claimed that they would not taste the difference between my bottled cocktails and their own. What a result!

We approached Darren as a fledgling trio of shandy lovers that had grand ambitions to refresh this age-old British classic for the modern moderator. We weren't short of ideas for the sort of flavours that we wanted to employ, but we were definitely short of the expertise and finesse required to create delicious, category-reviving products that could earn space on supermarket shelves and pub beer fonts.

Sly Dog Spiced Rum
I was fortunate enough to be put in touch with Darren, through contacts in the industry. We wanted to create a brand new spiced rum to shake up the spiced rum market. To develop product that was both tasty and unique, to convert non-rum drinkers to drinking rum. I worked alongside Darren for five months to perfect the flavour of the liquid; sampling so many different combinations to ensure we had the best possible taste.
Darren is very experienced and highly knowledgeable, not just with the science, but the legalities surrounding the alcohol industry. The results we produced with Darren were exceptional. Our rum has already scooped up two awards, within the first few weeks of launching, which is testament to the quality of Darren’s work. Darren was always at the end of the phone if we needed anything or wanted to make tweaks to the recipe.
I would recommend Darren and his services to absolutely everyone. The results are sure to be excellent.

Theale Green Community School
The Science department at Theale Green Community School was thrilled by the series of workshops held by Mr Staniforth on the 'Smells and Tastes of Christmas'. Pupils learnt about the different types of emulsions and looked at the most up to date methods of suspending particles in gels within the food industry. Pupils enjoyed learning about the different flavours and colours available and how these could be used by the food industry to create high street drinks and food items. We are extremely grateful for the time Mr Staniforth invested in our year 9 and year 10 pupils to develop their knowledge of science beyond the curriculum and into the workplace.
